A Nice Christmas Present

On December 19th, fresh off its recent acquisition of Gateway Computers Professional division, MPC Computers announced a new addition to its TransPort (notebooks), NetFRAME (servers), ClientPro (desktops) and DataFRAME (storage systems) product lines. The new MailFRAME is MPC's first e-mail archiving appliance and after three years of working very closely with them, we are delighted they have chosen NorthSeas software for this new product family.

This is huge for us. Not only is MPC's hardware expertise a complement to our software expertise, the company's product management discipline as a manufacturer has brushed off on our folks. For me however, what is most significant, is that with its Gateway acquisition, MPC's market reach grew in October from 100 sales reps to 450! That's 450 sales people selling NorthSeas technology!

MPC has taken a slightly different approach to packaging our software than most of our other partners. First, MPC's initial release is based on an Intel server platform, whereas most previous implementations ran on the SuperMicro 1U hardware. In addition, MPC made the decision to top-up memory (2 GB) and onboard storage (500 GB HD), even for their entry model, the M500. This provides optimal performance and avoids the need to upgrade hardware when a customer needs a license-level upgrade.

Here's what one early customer, Gary Gregg of the City of Southlake, says about his MailFRAME:

"After taking less than one minute, I was able to configure an account on the MailFRAME for our City Secretary and give her instructions on how to search mail in less than five minutes ..... We have over 900,000 messages stored already and most searches still take less than three seconds."

In the 3+ years that I've been associated with MPC, what has impressed me the most about MPC is their passion for customer service. I'm super excited about the potential here...for both companies.
